Abstract

This study aims to investigate aerobic and anaerobic capacities, and isokinetic strength between seven superior and six inferior athletes in Korean collegiate Taekwondo, including Olympic medalists. The results of this study suggest that the superior athletes had a higher VO2max than the inferior. The superior athletes also showed a lower blood lactate concentration for 5, 10, 20, and 30 minutes of recovery phase after the maximal exercise test, and a less amount of the peak torque deficit than the inferior during the isokinetic strength test. Our overall conclusion indicate that Korean collegiate Taekwondo athletes had a good aerobic capacity as well as a faster rate of lactate removal and the ability to balance of the superior athletes was a better than inferior.
